Backups & Recovery
Hosted backups
Section titled “Hosted backups”Hosted Nostos includes automated daily backups of customer libraries as part of the hosted plans.
The recovery system is intended to protect both the structured library and the uploaded media needed to reconstruct the hosted library. Backup and recovery are managed by Nostos; customers do not configure infrastructure or provider accounts.
Recovery behavior
Section titled “Recovery behavior”A hosted restore is treated as a recovery operation, not as an ordinary overwrite.
The service is designed to validate recovered data before returning a restored library to normal use and to avoid replacing a working library with an unverified recovery result.
Those implementation details are intentionally described here at the product boundary. Private provider topology, internal storage namespaces, operator procedures, and disaster-recovery runbooks are not public product interfaces.
Recovery is not portability
Section titled “Recovery is not portability”Hosted backups exist so Nostos can recover the hosted service.
A portable export exists so you can keep a transferable copy and move your library independently of the hosted service.
If having your own independent copy matters to you, keep periodic portable exports as well as relying on the managed backup service.
Service commitments
Section titled “Service commitments”Hosted Nostos is still in Early Access. The product includes automated daily backups, but Nostos does not currently publish a guaranteed restore time or a customer-facing recovery-time SLA.
Do not infer an unpublished recovery guarantee from internal provider capabilities.
Account deletion
Section titled “Account deletion”A deletion request stops normal hosted access and starts a 14-day recovery period. The deletion-recovery flow is separate from ordinary disaster recovery and exists so you can export or cancel the request before permanent cleanup becomes eligible.
SelfHosted backups
Section titled “SelfHosted backups”SelfHosted Nostos has a separate local backup system stored with the persistent data volume. See Live Backups.
