Your Data in Hosted Nostos
What Hosted Nostos keeps
Section titled “What Hosted Nostos keeps”Hosted Nostos stores the information needed to provide your account and reading environment. This includes:
- account information needed to sign you in and operate the hosted account;
- subscription and billing state needed to manage hosted access;
- library data such as books, reading state, notes, concepts, collections, and writing;
- uploaded media such as EPUBs, PDFs, covers, and audiobooks;
- recovery data used to protect the hosted library;
- limited usage information needed to enforce plan limits and operate managed features.
Hosted Nostos uses managed services behind these product boundaries. Public documentation intentionally describes the customer-visible behavior and data contract rather than publishing private operator topology, internal resource identifiers, or recovery runbooks.
See the Nostos Privacy Policy for the public privacy terms and service-provider disclosures that apply to the hosted service.
Library data and media
Section titled “Library data and media”Structured library information and uploaded media are managed as separate kinds of durable data.
You do not need to provision databases, storage buckets, service accounts, or credentials. Those are hosted-service responsibilities and are not part of your portable library identity.
Managed AI
Section titled “Managed AI”Hosted Nostos provides managed Ask Nostos and voice transcription without asking you to supply API keys.
When you use these features, the content needed to answer the request or transcribe the audio is processed for that purpose. Nostos may also record non-content usage information needed to apply the shared allowance, prevent abuse, and operate the service.
Prompt or transcription content is not retained merely to count usage against an allowance.
Ask Nostos’s customer-facing behavior is described in Ask Nostos & Voice.
Billing data
Section titled “Billing data”Subscription and payment processing is kept separate from your Nostos library.
The hosted account surface exposes product-level subscription state. Payment methods and invoices are handled through the secure billing-management flow rather than being stored as library data.
Portable exports
Section titled “Portable exports”Portable Nostos exports contain the supported library data and media needed to move your library to another Nostos installation.
Account sign-in information, payment details, service credentials, and hosting-specific configuration are not part of a portable library export.
See Import & Export for what moves with your library.
Deletion
Section titled “Deletion”Account deletion is a separate lifecycle from subscription cancellation.
A deletion request enters a 14-day recoverable period before it becomes eligible for permanent cleanup. During that recovery period, the dedicated recovery flow can provide a portable export and can cancel the deletion request.
See Billing & Cancellation for the customer lifecycle.
Self-hosting
Section titled “Self-hosting”SelfHosted Nostos keeps the application data and media on infrastructure you control and does not require a hosted subscription.
The Self-hosting Quickstart and operations documentation describe that deployment choice.
