Nostos product roadmap

Nostos follows a simple loop: Read → Notice → Capture → Return → Write. The roadmap is about making those steps feel connected, so what you read can stay useful beyond the page.

Nostos already brings books and the work around them into one place:

  • Read: Keep physical books alongside EPUBs, PDFs, and audiobooks. Read EPUBs and PDFs or listen to chaptered audiobooks; both readers share an in-book search.
  • Notice and capture: Save highlights and notes close to their source, then connect recurring ideas through Topics.
  • Return: Follow a topic or note back to the book material that supports it.
  • Write: Bring notes and quotations into the Writing Studio alongside a draft.

These capabilities form the foundation for what comes next.

The current focus is to make the everyday paths through Nostos feel coherent and easy to trust: bringing a library in, reading comfortably, finding a passage, capturing a thought, and using it again.

Recent improvements have made EPUB and PDF reading more immersive and brought their in-book search together. The SelfHosted app lets people choose which supported free-book sources participate in discovery. Recent work has also refined library transfer and polished small-screen navigation. Together, this work strengthens the dependable home around the whole reading loop.

Make it easier to reconstruct how an idea grew: move between books, passages, notes, and connected topics, then find useful reading again when it matters.

The direction is for Ask Nostos to act as a more useful guide to your own library: helping you retrieve relevant material and see where an answer or idea came from. The aim is to make returning to your thinking feel grounded in its sources.

Later — Carry reading into writing and beyond

Section titled “Later — Carry reading into writing and beyond”

Make it easier to gather and organize source material around a piece of writing, while keeping each idea traceable to the reading that informed it. The intent is for the Writing Studio to support your own work with the material you have collected.

Over time, Nostos can broaden the ways books and reading enter your library when they strengthen the same connected history of what you read, noticed, thought, and wrote.

These phases describe product direction, not release dates or delivery commitments. The Read → Notice → Capture → Return → Write loop is the filter for deciding which ideas belong on the roadmap.
