When first run appears

After you sign in and Nostos finishes preparing a new hosted library, you reach one final choice:

• Start fresh
• Import an existing Nostos library

Returning accounts whose library is already ready skip this step and return to the normal application.

Start fresh

Choose Start fresh when you want an empty Nostos library.

You can then add EPUBs, PDFs, audiobooks, and physical-book metadata in the normal library experience.

Starting fresh does not prevent you from exporting your library later. Hosted and self-hosted Nostos use the same portability path, so choosing hosted Nostos is not a one-way migration.

Import an existing Nostos library

Choose Import an existing Nostos library when you already have a portable Nostos export from another installation.

A portable export can carry supported books and media together with reading state, collections, notes, concepts, and Writing Studio content.

The current import format supports an empty destination library only. First run is therefore the natural place to move an existing self-hosted library into hosted Nostos.
